Laser resurfacing, for example, is an excellent way to address imperfections throughout the skin. Broken blood vessels, scarring, hyperpigmentation, and lesions in the skin can all have an impact on your self-esteem and distract from your natural beauty.

In particularly, blemishes in the face, neck, and decolletage can be especially distracting and impact your confidence during first impressions or important moments. VariLite is an effective and safe, FDA-approved, cosmetic enhancement procedure that is for the treatment of benign lesions in the skin, either pigmented, cutaneous, or benign vascular. It can also help address redness associated with rosacea.

VariLite Procedure

The VariLite treatment relies on light therapy, or lasers, to target unwanted blemishes and lesions in the skin. An intense beam of light is manipulated by a licensed professional and applied to a target area on the body. The procedure is usually administered using a handheld device that helps offer precision control, but this may vary depending on the extent of correction required or the treatment area. The laser light is absorbed by the oxyhemoglobin and melanin in the body, which then allows the unwanted cells to decompose or be destroyed, without affecting the surrounding cells.

Treatment Areas

A VariLite procedure will vary according to the extent of treatment required for each patient.

VariLite lasers treatments offer a versatile approach to skin resurfacing and treatment of lesions and blemishes. The procedure is FDA-approved for the treatment of:

  • Pigmented lesions, which includes freckles, birthmarks, age spots, lentigines, or moles
  • Cutaneous lesions, which can include keratoses, warts, and similar skin blemishes
  • Vascular lesions, which can include cherry and spider angiomas, rosacea, scar tissue, and spider veins

Procedures across a larger area -- a full-face treatment, can take around 30 to 60 minutes. In most cases, however, the process is brief, simple, non-invasive, and minimally painful. Most of our Newport Beach VariLite patients will need multiple sessions to achieve multiple results. For spot treatments of smaller areas, patients can generally expect a 10 to 15 minute treatment session that requires no downtime or recovery.

The Benefits

Laser treatments are often recommended to patients who want to achieve clearer skin or address imperfections and blemishes in visible areas; their face, hands, or decolletage.

The procedure often has reduced side effects and risks and can deliver immediate results, with little to no downtime required. In most cases, patients who undergo laser treatments report little to no pain. Additionally, for VariLite treatments, a topical numbing agent or cooling gel can be applied to alleviate any discomfort.

The Recovery

VariLite Orange County

VariLite is considered a lunchtime procedure. This means our Newport Beach VariLite patients can get their treatments in under an hour and return to their normal schedule immediately following treatment.

Unlike other cosmetic enhancements, facial plastic surgery or injectables like Botox, there is no downtime required post-treatment. Most patients will be advised to avoid direct sunlight. It is not uncommon to experience some redness after the treatment, but this subsides on its own within a few days or weeks. Patients can typically see the full results of their treatments within two to six weeks.
